State Veterinarian Dr. Tony Frazier and Emergency Programs Director Ben Mullins of the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries would like to invite you to attend the Poultry Depopulation Workshop being held June 13, 2017 from 9:30am – 3:30pm at the Hinton-Mitchem Regional Poultry Diagnostic Laboratory located at 1001 College Road Hanceville, AL 35077-0409.
The purpose of this one-day workshop will be to review and discuss the recent poultry depopulations that were performed during the Avian Influenza events in Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. Dr. Jim Watson, State Veterinarian of Mississippi, will be bringing his state’s CO2 equipment and Dr. Robert Cobb, State Veterinarian of Georgia, will be bringing one of his state's foaming units to discuss and demonstrate the positives and negatives of the various depopulation methods.
9:30am – 12:00pm: Depopulation After-Action Review
12:00pm – 1:00pm: Lunch (provided by the Alabama Poultry & Egg Association)
1:00pm – 3:30pm: Depopulation Equipment Discussion and Demonstration
*This afternoon portion will be outside so please dress comfortably for warm weather. Water will be available.
