Primate Acceptance Policy:

We only accept whole carcasses of primates at the main laboratory in Auburn, and only from verified public sources such as zoological collections with prior consent from the duty pathologist. Only formalin fixed tissue will be accepted from field necropsies. Carcasses of species known to harbor highly contagious zoonotic disease will not be accepted for necropsy.  This includes macaques (22 species) that are at risk of harboring Herpes B virus. The Laboratory or individual pathologist has the right to refuse necropsy of a primate based on personal risk for zoonotic pathogens.

A minimum of four hours advanced notice from the submitter is required to ensure necessary safety precautions have been completed. If you have any questions, please feel free to Contact Us for more information.
