Department Services during COVID-19

The Department of Agriculture & Industries is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our employees and customers as we do our part to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 while continuing to provide exceptional customer service.

Due to the Administrative Guidance issued by Governor Kay Ivey, many of our office staff will be working remotely and we are taking this step to limit the spread of the virus. The Richard Beard Building and Diagnostic Labs in Auburn, Elba, Boaz and Hanceville will remain open.

We are prepared to continue business operations with minimal disruption, and to continue to ensure a safe and secure food supply. When possible, we ask you contact us by phone or email (click here for a division email and phone list) rather than visiting in person.

We appreciate your patience!

Our consumer service activities protect consumers and businesses from unfair and unsafe business practices across a wide range of market sectors, including products and services for food, fuels and petroleum products, weighing and measuring devices, pesticides, and the full range of agricultural activities.

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries strives to promote agricultural products locally and throughout the globe. The Department strives to provide a favorable climate for agribusinesses and related industries to flourish. Through routine inspections and lab analysis we insure that all agribusinesses operate on a level playing field.

Through industry cooperation, the Department is committed to agriculture producers to assist with maintaining a favorable regulatory climate. Our mission is to help insure that Alabama agriculture producers continue to fuel our $70 billion agriculture economy and foster an environment that permits Alabama farmers to remain competitive.
