Monroe Sausage is as rich in history here in Alabama as it is in flavor! Monroe Sausage, formally known as Monroeville Brand Sausage, has been around for 50 years. Since then, Monroe Sausage has become a household name in Monroe County and it all started in the late 40’s when they threw sausage biscuits from their float during the annual Monroeville Hog Festival! Ever since then, people have loved Monroe Sausage and it is becoming well known, not just in Monroe County, but across Alabama and the surrounding states!
After Hurricane Ivan, Beatrice Meat Company was established, and a new facility was built in Beatrice. The owners kept the original recipes so that everyone can continue to enjoy the delicious flavor of the legendary hickory smoked Monroe Sausage. Monroe Sausage is made using only premium pork, the finest seasonings you will ever taste, 100% hickory wood smoked, and is smoked longer to maximize flavor.
As the fame and flavor of Monroe Sausage spread among friends and relatives, it wasn’t unusual for folks from all over Alabama to get you to “pick’em up a bunch of Monroe Sausage” if they heard you were passing through Monroe County. Look for it in your grocer’s meat section and start making your memories today! For a listing of retailers where you can purchase Monroe Sausage visit their homepage at www.monroesausage.com, or you can give them a call at (251) 789-2242.
Each October, the company hosts the Beatrice Sausage Festival, which is held in downtown Beatrice. The festival features live entertainment, good food, and lots of activities for children, including pony rides, inflatable jumps/slides, pumpkin decorating, and hay rides. It is a fun-filled day for the entire family, and The 3rd Annual Beatrice Sausage Festival is tentatively scheduled for October 10, 2009.
