Commissioner Sparks advises horse owners to vaccinate for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile Virus (WNV). Over the last four months 11 positive cases of EEE and 3 positive cases of WNV in horses have been found in Alabama. “Heavy rainfall has made us extremely vulnerable to the spread of mosquito-borne viruses... I want to encourage horse owners to vaccinate their horses... as soon as possible.” more...

In The Field
A seed analyst from the Seed Lab Division is shown testing for germination to determine how well the seed grows. To protect consumers, the Seed Lab also does a purity test. The seeds then go under germination by temperature and then are separated to make sure the seeds are not bad. This test will show if the seeds are labeled correctly and ensure that the consumer will get what they pay for.
