The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is celebrating National Ag Day today! We want to recognize and show our appreciation to the hardworking farmers who keep Alabama and the world fed, clothed and thriving! Agriculture is the backbone of our state, contributing $77.3 billion to our economy. No one is more committed to protecting the land than Alabama farmers. One farmer could feed nearly 76 people in the early 1970’s. Today, one farmer can feed more than 165 people. National Ag Day is a great time to “Thank A Farmer” for all they do!

Commissioner Rick Pate, U.S. Senator Katie Britt, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville and several elected officials are thanking a farmer to celebrate National Ag Day. Click the link below for the National Ag Day – Thank A Farmer video.
