The dicamba products (Xtendimax, Tavium, and Engenia) are all now classified as Federal Restricted Use Pesticides (RUPs). RUPs can only be sold by Licensed Pesticide Dealers and can only be purchased by licensed/certified (commercial and private) applicators. These products can only be applied by licensed/certified (commercial and private) applicators.

When using these products, applicators must have in their possession a copy of the approved label for the product being applied AND a valid applicator permit. Applicators are responsible for obtaining all necessary labeling and for adhering to all the directions, restrictions, and precautions found on the labeling.

As of spring 2023, Alabama will allow applicators to take dicamba training offered by manufactures to comply with EPA requirement for row crop application. Alabama Cooperative Extension System and Auburn University will no longer conduct statewide in-person training as the only dicamba training accepted in the State of Alabama. Alabama applicators are encouraged to take online dicamba trainings using the links listed below and keep the training certificate along with product label during dicamba applications in resistant row crops.
